Youngkin Endorses Trump For Re-Election

'It's time to unite around strong leadership and policies that grow our great nation, not four more years of President Biden'

Youngkin Endorses Trump For Re-Election

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has endorsed former president Donald Trump for re-election this November.

Youngkin's endorsement follow's Trump's sweeping performance in 14 out of 15 states on Super Tuesday.

"Voters in the Commonwealth and across the country have spoken loudly for President Donald J. Trump and I endorse him for President of the United States," Youngkin wrote on Wednesday. "His record on border security, restoring American leadership around the world, reducing taxes and lowering the cost of living for all Americans stands in stark contrast to the open borders, failed leadership on the global stage, rampant inflation and higher costs of today."

"It's time to unite around strong leadership and policies that grow our great nation, not four more years of President Biden," the Virginia governor added.

Trump thanked Youngkin for his endorsement Wednesday evening.

Lone Republican challenger Nikki Haley, who secured two wins in Washington, D.C. and Vermont this primary season, suspended her presidential campaign Wednesday morning.

“I said I wanted Americans to have their voices heard. I have done that,” Haley said addressing her camp in Charleston, South Carolina. “I have no regrets.”

“I sought the honor of being your president. But in our great country, being a private citizen is privileged enough in itself,” she continued. “And that is a privilege I very much look forward to enjoying.”

Haley notably did not endorse Trump for president, and instead said the former president needed to "earn the votes" of Republicans and those "who did not support him."

“At its best, politics is about bringing people into your cause – not turning them away,” she added. “This is now his time for choosing.”

Following Haley's campaign suspension, the Republican National Committee's (RNC) outgoing chairwoman Ronna McDaniel issued a statement naming Trump the presumptive Republican nominee for this November's general election.

“Congratulations to President Donald J. Trump on his huge primary victory! I’d also like to congratulate Nikki Haley for running a hard-fought campaign and becoming the first woman to win a Republican presidential primary contest,” outgoing RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement. “President Trump once delivered a booming economy, secure border, energy independence, and America’s strength on the world stage, the exact opposite of the chaos created by Joe Biden."

“Republican voters have spoken loud and clear with historically large margins and we are more united than ever to beat Biden and Democrats up and down the ballot in November," she added.
