Bill Maher insisted President Joe Biden would lose the upcoming election after his debate performance with former President Joe Biden.
Maher opened Friday's episode of the long-running Real Time with Bill Maher by asking if the audience had seen the previous night's debate.
"In case you missed it, don't worry, so did one of the contestants," the comedian said taking a jab at Biden's performance. "Trump told lie after lie ... he never would have gotten away with that if Joe Biden was there."
"C'mon man," Maher said, invoking a famous Biden phrase.
“All night — confused and halting and trailing off. I’ve seen beauty pageant contestants answer questions better," he continued.
Maher went on to say he will still vote for Biden even if the president was a head in a jar, though conceded he sincerely believed Trump will prevail this November.
“He is going to lose. I said it nine months ago, I said it tonight. … Now, it seems like it’s so apparent,” Maher said of his previous remarks.

Following the debate, some Democratic lawmakers said the 2024 presidential race was "effectively over," according to NBC News' Kristen Welker.
CNN's Chris Wallace, formerly of Fox News, said Biden's debate performance was like watching a "car accident in slow motion."
"[Biden] sunk his campaign tonight," he said. CHRIS WALLACE: This has been, quite frankly, a car accident in slow motion that we've seen over & over...

The Young Turks' (TYT) Cenk Uygur said it was a bad idea for Biden to debate Trump.
“This thing's a bloodbath. He’s going to get annihilated," Uygur said during TYT's debate recap. OMG! pic.twitter.com/R87BQnvtzZ

However, former President Barack Obama threw support behind his former running mate saying, "Bad debate nights happen."
"Trust me, I know. But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself," Obama wrote. "Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight — and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit. Last night didn’t change that, and it’s why so much is at stake in November." Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know. Fellow former President Bill Clinton also threw support behind Biden in his own X post.
"I’ll leave the debate rating to the pundits, but here’s what I know: facts and history matter," Clinton posted. "Joe Biden has given us 3 years of solid leadership, steadying us after the pandemic, creating a record number of new jobs, making real progress solving the climate crisis, and launching a successful effort in reducing inflation, all while pulling us out of the quagmire Donald Trump left us in." "That’s what’s really at stake in November," Clinton added.
