Former President Donald Trump has responded to speculation that President Joe Biden will be replaced as the Democrat nominee.
Speaking to Fox News the day after the debate, Trump said that Biden "will be the nominee" for the Democratic Party.
"It was a great honor to be on stage representing the people of our country," Trump said.
Asked if he believes Biden will still be the nominee, Trump said, "Yes, I think he will be the nominee."
Pressed about Democrats' alarm and if he could be replaced, Trump stood firm that he believes it will still be him versus Biden in November.
"No, I don’t think so," Trump said. "They wouldn’t have done any better. No one else would have been better."
CNN's flash poll about who won the debate clearly showed Trump as the winner, with 67 percent voting for Trump and 33 percent voting for Biden.
Before the debate, 45 percent of debate watchers said they thought Biden would win, compared to 55 percent for Trump.
When asked about their confidence in each candidate to lead the country, 14 percent of the debate watchers said they had "a lot" of confidence in Biden, 29 percent said "some," and a 57 percent majority said "none."

The Trump campaign quickly called victory after the debate, saying that the former president "delivered the greatest debate performance and victory in history to the largest voter audience in history, making clear exactly how he will improve the lives of every American."
"Joe Biden on the other hand showed exactly why he deserves to be fired," Trump campaign co-chairs Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles said. "Despite taking a week-long vacation at Camp David to prepare for the debate, Biden was unable to defend his disastrous record on the economy and the border."
The statement added, "President Trump is spot-on when he says that if Joe Biden is too incompetent to stand trial, then Biden is too incompetent to be President."
