Co-host of ABC's The View Whoopi Goldberg said former President Donald Trump will put people in a "camp" if he wins a second term in office.
Goldberg made her remark during a Wednesday broadcast of the program in which the panel discussed the upcoming election this November.
During the broadcast, Goldberg suggested Americans worried about inflation and making ends meet wasn't comparable to the danger of a second Trump term. The View co-host said people's faith in America was waning, which is "pissing her off."
"There’s a reason Joe Biden ran the way he did," Goldberg said. "There’s a reason he’s running for democracy now, because that’s really what’s at stake.”
“You’re worried that you can’t pay your bills?” she continued. “Wait ’til he — the other guy — becomes president, and you won’t have to worry about it because you’ll be in some camp somewhere.”
Goldberg warned her suggestion was a "promise."
“His promise to us is he’s going to force people to do his bidding, that’s what he said," she said in reference to Trump's December interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity before incorrectly quoting the former President. "‘I’m going to be good on day one, and I’m going to turn into this other person.'”
The View co-host turned her attention to the audience saying, "This is all up to you."
“Do you want the country that you kind of thought we had, where we all get to say what we think and we don’t have to be afraid of being American?” she asked.
Goldberg noted people immigrated to America in different ways and suggested Americans should accept illegal immigration because people were coming from countries that were "not good" for their families.
“Fight for that. Don’t fight for keeping everybody out, because then we all have to leave,” Goldberg added.
During the December interview with Hannity, the Fox News host asked the former President to quell voters’ fears that he would not “abuse power as retribution” against political opponents. Trump agreed he would not, “except for Day One.”
“Other than Day One. We’re closing the border. And we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that I’m not a dictator,” the former President said.
In lieu of participating in the Republican primary debate hosted by CNN, Trump joined fellow Fox News hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum for a town hall hosted by the network in Des Moines, Iowa. During the town hall, Trump said he has chosen a running mate, though did not reveal his selection.
According to RealClearPolitics, Trump holds a commanding 49.8-point advantage over runner-up GOP candidate and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. Fellow Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron Desantis trails Haley by a narrow .4 points. Trump holds a .6-point advantage over President Joe Biden, per the polling aggregate.
