Rep. Nancy Pelosi's interview with Stephen Colbert for The Late Show was crashed by pro-Palestine protesters on Tuesday evening.
The episode was filmed in Chicago, Illinois, where the Democratic National Convention and massive protests against Israel have been taking place this week.
Pelosi and Colbert were discussing the DNC when someone in the crowd could be heard yelling, "Free Palestine!"
The talk show host acknowledged the protest before cutting to a commercial break.
“There’s a protest going on right now,” Colbert said. “We’re going to go to commercial break but the subject is on Israel and Palestine and if you’ll have a seat, we have to go to the commercial break, but when we come back I’ll ask the next question I had on that subject.” Pro-Palestinian protesters interrupted Stephen Colbert's late-night interview with Rep. When the show returned, Pelosi discussed the potential for a ceasefire agreement and asserted, “War has no role in a civilized society.”
This statement first brought applause, but that quickly shifted as more protesters began shouting at the California politician.
“As you can see from the continuing protests out here, that answer is unsatisfying to some people because they believe that the United States — hold on one second, would you like to respond to what they’re saying?” Colbert said.
Pelosi claimed that she could not understand what the protesters were saying. Nancy Pelosi was heckled during an interview with Stephen Colbert by anti-Israel agitators. Colbert addressed the protesters in the live audience, saying, "Please don't interrupt my guest." 😂 https://t.co/HMH6gADvC1 pic.twitter.com/esPsjk1Bvl

“They’re screaming, I can’t hear them,” Pelosi said.
“They’ve said the United States should not have any role in supplying Israel arms to kill the people of Gaza. That’s what they’re saying,” Colbert said. His translation brought more applause from the audience.
Pelosi asserted that Israel "has a right to defend itself" and added that she supports a two-state solution.
“Israel has a right to defend itself. And the hostages should be returned, but the other part of it that has been so major for all of us for many years is that there must be a two state solution,” Pelosi stated. “You cannot have peace unless you have two states. Israel, a secure, Democratic, Jewish state in the region and the Palestinians having their own secure country there as well.”
The protests continued until Colbert ended the interview.
