Trump Tees Off On New Hampshire Governor, Haley Responds

Former President Donald Trump said New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu should prevent Democrats from voting in the state's upcoming Republican primary.

The former teed off on Sununu in a Friday Truth Social post referring to fellow GOP candidate and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley as "Nimbra."

"Governor Chris Sununu, the now failing Governor of New Hampshire, where I am beating his endorsed candidate, Nimbra, by big numbers, and DeSanctimonious by even bigger numbers, should spend more time keeping Democrats from voting in the Republican Primary," Trump wrote.

Trump said Democrats voting in the Republican primary was "ridiculous" though claimed "it doesn't matter because Nimbra doesn't have what it takes."

"She’s weak on China, Russia, Borders, and Crime, but never saw a war she didn’t like," he continued. "I defeated ISIS, Rebuilt our Military, and brought our soldiers back home."

"I hope Sununu’s endorsement of Nimbra has more strength than Kim Reynolds’ Iowa endorsement of DeSanctus!" Trump said. "How did that work out? MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

Haley said Trump's comment was a lie and "another reason we need to move on" from the former President in an X post.

"Democrats can't vote in the NH primary," Haley wrote. "They haven't been able to change their registration for months."

The former South Carolina governor said she was "tougher on China and Russia" than the former President and criticized Trump's previous praise of Chinese President Xi Jinping in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I passed the toughest illegal immigration law in the country as governor," she continued. "I did more to protect South Carolinians than he did to protect Americans."

"But we all know that's why he won't debate me," she concluded.

Sununu endorsed Haley in December at a campaign stop in Manchester.

“This is an opportunity for New Hampshire to lead this country, for New Hampshire to say we’re not looking in the rearview mirror anymore,” Sununu said. “Thank you for your service, Mr. President, we’re moving on. This is New Hampshire, and we go forward.”

“This is a race between two people: Nikki Haley and Donald Trump,” Sununu added. “That’s it. Nikki’s spent the time on the ground here, she’s earned people’s trust, and that’s going to be the real decider.”

The New Hampshire governor is the only state governor to endorse Haley's presidential run.

Haley placed third in Monday night's Iowa caucus behind Trump and runner-up GOP candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
