Former President Donald Trump said Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is "absolutely" on his shortlist for potential running mates on Thursday during his trip to the southern border.
Abbott joins a shortlist that includes Sen. Tim Scott, Vivek Ramaswamy, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Rep. Byron Donalds, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.
Trump was asked about Abbott during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity.
“Absolutely, he is,” Trump said of the governor. TRUMP'S INTERVIEW WITH HANNITY DURING VISIT TO EAGLE PASS, TEXAS pic.twitter.com/SV8oPSa2yg

When asked about other names on the list, Trump brought up Senator Scott.
“Tim, for himself, he was fine. He did OK. I mean, he was OK as a candidate, but he didn’t want to talk about himself. He’s a very good man,” Trump said. “For me, he’s unbelievable. He’s a surrogate.”
The Hill reports, "Others believed to be in the running for the post include Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) and Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R), as well as Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.), who will deliver the GOP response to the State of the Union."
Trump had claimed he had already made his decision back in January, during a Fox News town hall event.
Fox anchor Martha MacCallum had asked him who was in the running for vice president. Trump says he has already chosen his VP for 2024.

"Well I can’t tell you that really. I mean, I know who it’s going to be," Trump said.
Trump also said he gets many calls from people eager to work in a second Trump administration.
"I have a lot of people that want to work with me," Trump said. "I have people calling — just as I’m getting on the stage, I had a call from two of the very most important people in the military wanting to come work for me." President Trump: “Just as I’m getting on the stage, I had a call from two of the very most important people in the military (who) wanna come to work for me…” 😎

Trump acknowledged that he had some people in his previous administration who were "not great" and "stiffs."
"Everybody wants to come to work for us. We’re gonna have no trouble. We had great people [in his first term], we had a couple that were not great, stiffs, as I would call them, but that’s true with anybody," Trump continued.
