Trump, Dr. Phil Discuss Corporate Press' Deliberate Misrepresentation of His Remarks

Former President Donald Trump discussed the corporate press deliberately misrepresenting his remarks in an interview with Dr. Phil McGraw.

Trump, along with independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., both spoke with McGraw in separate interviews that will be released this week.

In a Monday preview, Dr. Phil shared a clip of himself and the former president discussing the corporate press' deliberate misrepresentation of Trump's comments throughout this election cycle.

"They demonize you a lot," McGraw told Trump, noting the former president had recently encouraged evangelical Christians, who are averse to voting, to support his campaign, adding they wouldn't need to vote in the future. The corporate press' framing of Trump's remarks, however, suggested Trump meant he would usurp American's right to vote on political matters.

"Christians, for whatever reason, don't vote very much," Trump said. "We've gotta win this election. If we win this election, I'll straighten this whole thing out in less than four years by a lot."

"It doesn't mean we're not gonna have elections. You're gonna have elections, but you have to vote this time," he said, reiterating the November election was the most consequential in United States history.

Trump went on to tell McGraw that gun owners similarly were averse to voting in proportion with other sects of voters.

"So, you didn't mean 'Vote me in once, 'cause I ain't ever leaving' — you're meaning, 'This is an important one. Vote this time,'" McGraw said.

"Of course that's what I meant," the former president responded. "I said it, and everybody knows I said it that way, and everybody agrees that I said it that way."

The former president also noted the corporate press similarly highlighted a cheeky remark he made late last year in which Trump said he would only be a dictator on day one in office to reverse a series of President Joe Biden's policies.

"We’re closing the border, and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator," Trump said at the time.

Trump told McGraw: "These are very dishonest people we're dealing with."

Trump's interview will premiere later today on McGraw's network MeritTV, while Kennedy's interview will premiere on Wednesday.

Last Friday, Kennedy, a former Democrat, suspended his presidential bid and endorsed Trump for president.

The independent candidate will remain on ballots in reliably blue and red states, though will be removed from ten swing states in an effort to stave off a potential Kamala Harris presidency.
