Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's resolution to censure Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib failed to pass a Wednesday floor vote.
Greene introduced her resolution last week which claimed the Michigan representative engaged in antisemitic activity, sympathized with a terrorist organization, and spearheaded an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
A floor vote was held on Wednesday, though the resolution failed with a vote of 181 to 214. Twenty-two representatives did not vote, while 16 voted "present."
"Feckless Republicans that voted WITH Democrats to table my censure resolution against Rashida Tlaib," Greene wrote in an X post providing a list of House Republicans that opposed her resolution. "This is why Republicans NEVER do anything to stop the communist Democrats or ever hold anyone accountable!!"
"PATHETIC," she added.
House Republicans opposed to Greene's resolution included North Dakota Rep. Kelly Armstrong, Colorado Rep. Ken Buck, along with California Reps. John Duarte, Darrell Issa, Tom McClintock, and Doug LaMalfa.
Other House Republicans opposing Greene's resolution included Maryland Rep. Donna Edwards, Virginia Rep. Morgan Griffith, Wisconsin Reps. Glenn Grothman and Derrick Van Orden, Wyoming Rep. Harriet Hageman, Michigan Reps. Bill Huizenga, Tim Walberg, and John Moolenaar, South Dakota Rep. Dusty Johnson, Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, Georgia Reps. Rich McCormick and Austin Scott, Ohio Reps. Max Miller and Mike Turner, Iowa Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Texas Rep. Chip Roy, and Indiana Rep. Victoria Spartz.
Van Orden originally supported the resolution, but later changed his vote in the record, according to Greene.
Massie commented on his vote in opposition to Greene's resolution in a Wednesday X post.
"January 6 protestors were not insurrectionists, nor were those led by Rep. Tlaib," Massie wrote. "I voted to table a censure resolution of Rep. Tlaib in part because it was modeled after legislation that condemned J6 protestors."
"Also: Free speech means protecting even the speech you don't like," Massie added.
Last Wednesday, fellow House Democrat and Florida Rep. Jared Moskowitz also threw support behind censuring Tlaib during an appearance on Fox News. Moskowitz criticized Tlaib’s support for what appeared to be a false or misleading story that suggested Israel was responsible for bombing a hospital in the Gaza Strip which killed over 500 people.
“Let’s remember, the hospital wasn’t hit,” Moskowitz told Fox News’ Kayleigh McEnany. “The hospital is still there. It’s the parking lot of the hospital.”
Moskowitz told McEnany a censure resolution for Tlaib should come to the House floor.
“It’s been disgusting, what happened in that hospital issue with the media was disgusting, it exposed all sorts of anti-Semitism,” Moskowitz said. “I guess we can dispel with the lie Jews control the media.”
Tlaib originally referred to Greene's resolution as "Islamophobic" in a statement.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene’s unhinged resolution is deeply Islamophobic and attacks peaceful Jewish anti-war advocates,” Tlaib wrote. “I am proud to stand in solidarity with Jewish peace advocates calling for a ceasefire and an end to the violence.”
“I will not be bullied, I will not be dehumanized, and I will not be silenced,” she added. “I will continue to call for ceasefire, for the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid, for the release of hostages and those arbitrarily detained, and for every American to be brought home. I will continue to work for a just and lasting peace that upholds the human rights and dignity of all people, and ensures that no person, no child has to suffer or live in fear of violence.”
