House Majority Whip Tom Emmer has endorsed former President Donald Trump for re-election.
Emmer endorsed Trump in a Wednesday X post warning "we must stop Joe Biden and his failed policies."
"Democrats have made clear they will use every tool in their arsenal to try and keep Joe Biden and his failed policies in power," Emmer wrote. "We cannot let them."
"It's time for Republicans to unite behind our party's clear frontrunner, which is why I am proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for President," he added.
Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton also endorsed the former President for re-election on Wednesday in a statement to Fox News Digital. "When Donald Trump was president, America was safe, strong, and prosperous," Cotton said. "With Joe Biden as president, everything has gone to hell: families can’t afford groceries, our border is wide open to a full-blown invasion, and our enemies are starting wars everywhere." "I endorse President Trump and I look forward to working with him to win back the White House and the Senate so we can help hardworking Arkansans suffering from Joe Biden’s disastrous policies,” he added. "It's time to get our country back on track."Loading...
In October, Emmer was briefly nominated as the GOP candidate for Speaker of the House after former Speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted from the office by Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz and seven other House Republicans. After failing to garner the support of a majority of House Republicans, Emmer dropped his nomination. Louisiana Rep. Mike Johnson was later elected Speaker of the House by a unanimous vote from Republicans in late October.
Emmer and Cotton join over 100 members of Congress and the Senate in endorsing Trump, including Ohio Sen. JD Vance, Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, and Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, among others. Trump has also received endorsements from seven governors, including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice, and Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as Trump's White House Press Secretary from 2017 until 2019.
Other notable figures who have endorsed Trump for re-election include entrepreneur Robert Kiyosaki of the Rich Dad Company, rapper Waka Flocka Flame, country artist and lead vocalist of rock band Staind, Aaron Lewis, and professional golfer John Daly.
Trump leads runner up GOP candidates Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley by 51.3 points, according to RealClearPolitics. DeSantis and Haley lead entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy by 7 points.
In a potential rematch, the polling aggregator shows Trump leading President Biden by 2.3 points.
