Chris Christie Says Nikki Haley Would 'Eat Glass' to be Picked as Donald Trump's VP (VIDEO)

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has said that Nikki Haley would "eat glass" to be picked as Donald Trump's running mate.

Christie claimed that Haley is not trying to win the 2024 election but hopes to get the VP pick or position herself to win in 2028.

The former governor made the comments during an appearance on The View on Wednesday.

Asked why he has not dropped out of the race and endorsed Haley, Christie said, "Because Nikki Haley can't beat him ... because she doesn't want to."

Christie said Haley was trying not to alienate Trump voters, whose support she would need in 2028.

"Give DeSantis credit for this. He said he would not take vice president under Trump under any circumstances," Christie said.

"I've said I wouldn't take vice president under Trump," he continued. "Nikki Haley won't say it."

Christie said he was speaking to a politician in her home state of South Carolina over the weekend and asked, "Am I reading this wrong?"

"He said to me, 'Governor, she would eat glass to get the vice presidential nomination under Trump. That's how ambitious she is,'" Christie continued.

During the interview, co-host Joy Behar also noted that presidential candidates Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis said they would pardon Trump and asked him if he would do the same.

“No, no, no, no,” Christie replied before she had even finished asking the question.

“As a governor, I issued pardons,” Christie said. “And one of the things you have to do is look at the person. The person has to accept responsibility for what they did. Do you think Donald Trump will ever accept responsibility for anything he did?”

“It’d be really the easiest pardon decision I would ever have to make as president,” Christie said. “You don’t accept responsibility? Too bad. Go to jail.”

Christie is only polling at about three percent.

Haley is in a dead heat with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for second place, but remains roughly 50 points behind Trump.
