Joy Behar Says Republican Politicians Are Competing To 'Make Women's Lives More Miserable'

Joy Behar claimed Republican politicians were in competition to see who could "make women's lives more miserable."

Behar made her remarks during a Tuesday broadcast of ABC's The View.

Fellow co-host Whoopi Goldberg referenced Trump's recent announcement that he believed abortion should be left for states to legislate rather than employing federal bans. Goldberg noted Trump received backlash from supporters, specifically former Vice President Mike Pence and South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, who have advocated for abortion bans at the federal level after the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.

The panel, including fellow co-hosts Alyssa Farah-Griffin and Sunny Hostin, collectively laughed and mocked Trump's 2020 re-election loss.

"Do you think this is gonna cost him a little piece of his base if he doesn't take a more definitive stance?" Goldberg asked, noting President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have expressed support for codifying abortion rights into law.

Farah-Griffin suggested Trump stood to lose more support from the general electorate rather than his main voter base.

"What Pence is doing is important," she said, referencing remarks on Trump's announcement. "Donald Trump has not come clapping back at Mike Pence for his statement, which was much harsher than Lindsey Graham."

The co-host went on to suggest Trump expressing interest in federal abortion bans would sour moderate voters on the former president.

"It is a major, major loser for Republicans, and Trump oddly recognizes that," she added.

Goldberg went on to say she was surprised by Graham's opposition to Trump, claiming he has "been on his knees at the temple" of Trump. Hostin said Trump was "morally bankrupt" and would say whatever he needed to stay out of prison by securing his re-election.

"Pence, Lindsey Graham, and Trump are fighting to see who can make women's lives more miserable," Behar interjected.

"How can we really destroy women in this country?" she continued. "Lindsey Graham will be on his knees flying down to Mar-a-Lago ... if he had a spine, he could sit upright on the plane, but he doesn't have a spine."

Behar went on to criticize Graham for what she surmised to be flip-flopping support for the former president.

"These people will not be moved," Behar said of MAGA supporters, claiming she heard one Trump supporter say he didn't care if the former president allegedly didn't pay his employees."These people need to understand that he will also stiff you."
