Dennis Winn, 72, was arrested after neighbors reported seeing him shoot down the drone.
"Police responded to a call at a Walmart parking lot on Wednesday when two representatives from Walmart's drone delivery service called 911 with reports of one of their drones being shot down," Local 12 News reports. "The pair said they were promoting the delivery drones by demonstrating mock deliveries. They stood in front of a suburban home with a group of people interested to see the new technology, but when the drone began its descent the representatives reported a loud sound that they thought could have been a gunshot." One of the representatives claimed they saw a man standing outside his home and pointing a gun at the sky.
The drone did make it back to the store but reportedly had approximately $2,500 in damage.
After being taken into custody, Winn was asked if he had an incident with the drone and he confessed that he did. He told police that he saw it flying over his home and believed it to be watching him, so he shot it down with his 9mm.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook that Winn "was taken into custody and charged with Shooting at an aircraft, Criminal mischief damage over $1,000, and Discharging a firearm in public or residential property."
