Charlamagne Tha God Says Trump's Upcoming Debate Will Be 'Greatest Stand-Up Special'

Charlamagne Tha God said former President Donald Trump's performance in Thursday's debate with President Joe Biden will be "one of the greatest stand-up specials we’ve ever seen."

The radio host made his remarks during this weekend's episode of his podcast Brilliant Idiots, co-hosted by comedian Andrew Schultz. During the episode, Charlamagne and Schultz agreed Thursday's debate between Biden and Trump would be "must-see TV."

Charlamagne referenced rules to be enforced by CNN, who is hosting the first debate, which include muting respondent's microphones outside of their allotted response time, and disallowing either candidate from possessing notes or communicating with their respective teams during the event.

"This s--- is like a real live freestyle battle," Charlamagne said. "Good luck, President Joe Biden."

An off-camera producer suggested muting respondent's microphones would assist Biden's performance as the president may be thrown off by potential interruptions from Trump.

The radio host shrugged off the producer's suggestion saying, "It don't matter."

"Do you not want Trump to be interrupted?" Charlamagne asked, noting the former president could similarly be thrown off by Biden if he interjected during Trump's responses.

"And you can't jump in. And you 80-plus years old, and trying to keep up with every single lie he's going to lay out?" Charlamagne continued. "Are you serious?"

"Biden's not gonna be able to keep up," the radio host added.

"Listen, I don’t know, maybe it won’t be bad,” Charlamagne continued. “Maybe they got some new s--- they’ve been working on, some super serum, you know what I mean, and they’re going to shoot [Biden] up with something.

The radio host said the debate would be "bad," but "joke-filled."

"Donald Trump is dangerous because he’s funny," Charlamagne said. "He’s going to give us one of the greatest stand-up specials we’ve ever seen on June 27th. The names he’s probably working on for Joe, the shit he’s going to come with about Hunter. Oh my God. ‘He smokes crack, doesn’t he, Joe? He smokes crack. Does he smoke crack, Joe?’”

Although Charlamagne is an outspoken liberal, the radio host has previously taken aim at Democratic politicians and the Democratic Party overall in recent months.

In February, Charlamagne lamented the oft-used strategy of labeling Republicans as a "threat to democracy" and suggested Democrats were the "party who cried wolf."

"You can't keep saying that there's a 'threat to democracy,' [and] 'democracy as we know it is gonna be gone,' but not act like it," Charlamagne said. "They've always done this with every single Republican candidate."

While guest-hosting The Daily Show in April, Charlamagne also referred to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies as "mostly garbage."

"It's the 'I have a black friend' of the legal system!" he said.
