'Bet On It': Tucker Carlson Says Biden's Withdrawal From Race Inevitable

Tucker Carlson suggested President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race was inevitable as "too many prominent Democrats" have expressed worry over the president's chances at re-election after his debate performance with former President Donald Trump.

Shortly after the Thursday debate, former President Barack Obama took to X to throw support behind Biden, saying "Bad debate nights happen," though encouraged voters to back Biden citing the stakes of November's election.

However, Carlson reported Obama's X post was "disingenuous," according to an "unusually good source."

"In private, Obama is telling people Biden can’t win, and he is therefore in favor of an open convention," Carlson wrote Monday. "Obama will not say whom he supports, nor as of yesterday afternoon had he met personally with Biden to deliver the message."

Carlson went on to note private relations between Obama and Biden had been tumultuous, though had reportedly deteriorated due to First Lady Jill Biden.

"In the hours and days after the debate, she kept her husband cloistered away from anyone who might convince him to drop out," Carlson continued. "Jill Biden is the driving force behind her husband’s reelection campaign, just as she was in 2020, when other members of the family (including Biden’s sister Val) considered him too impaired to run."

Carlson then suggested the younger generation of Democratic candidates viewed their in-fighting as an opportunity to propel themselves into higher office.

Later Monday, Carlson asserted Biden's campaign was "done," citing an unusually large number of corporate press outlets and pundits expressing concern over Biden's debate performance.

"Bet on it. Too many prominent Democrats have suggested he’s brain damaged. They can’t walk that back. They have to remove him, and they will. The only question is when," Carlson wrote. "If they’re smart, they’ll do it immediately. If Kamala’s going to be the nominee, she might as well be the president first."

Carlson said Trump was "effectively the presumptive president" barring Trump's upcoming sentencing for his "hush money" trial. Trump's sentencing is scheduled for July 11, though may be postponed in response to the Supreme Court's Monday ruling on presidential immunity.

"If you’re going to put him in jail, it had better be for a very serious crime that everyone agrees he committed," Carlson added. "Otherwise you risk destroying the system completely and forever. We’re in legitimate danger. Democrats need to pull back."

In a follow-up post, Carlson warned the Democratic Party would find a way to remove Biden as their nominee if the president chose to remain in the race.

"That’s not how the Democratic Party works. No individual is more important than the collective. That’s the whole point of the party," Carlson wrote. "In Biden’s specific case, he’s got no constituency in Washington. Yes, Ron Klain and 85-year-old Ted Kaufman benefit directly from his presidency, but it’s a small group. The rest of the city has no loyalty to Biden. They don’t care about him; they’ve never taken him seriously."

"Any president works for them as long as he’s a Democrat. It’s never personal with these people because the individual doesn’t matter," he added.

Biden's family has reportedly encouraged the president to remain in the race. Similarly, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is reportedly considering officially nominating Biden as early as mid-July to quash calls for his withdrawal.
