X to Host Town Hall with Donald Trump, Three Years After He Was Banned by Previous Ownership

X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, will host a town hall with former President Donald Trump three years after the previous ownership permanently banned him.

Trump has only posted on X once since he was reinstated on the platform after Elon Musk purchased it and unbanned him.

News of the town hall event comes shortly after it was revealed that Trump met with Musk and is considering giving him a White House advisory role if elected.

The New York Post reports, "The presumptive Republican nominee for president, who was convicted Thursday in connection with a hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels, will answer submitted questions during the livestream event, which will also be broadcast in a partnership deal with cable channel NewsNation."

The date and time of the event have not been revealed.

Moderators have also not been publicly named, but at least one is expected to be a NewsNation journalist.

While X users will be able to submit questions to be asked, moderators will ultimately choose which questions go to the candidate.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, President Joe Biden was also invited to hold a town hall on the platform but declined.

X reportedly plans to hold a similar event with independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The Post reports that X CEO Linda Yaccarino came up with the idea for the town halls and pitched it to Nexstar Media Group, NewsNation’s parent company.
