Former Democratic United States Representative from Hawaii Tulsi Gabbard endorsed Kari Lake for Arizona Governor on Tuesday morning.
Gabbard, who said last week she was leaving the Democratic party, announced on Twitter her support for Lake, who served 22 years as a journalist and news anchor for Phoenix news station KSAZ-TV.
"For too long establishment leaders from both parties have sought to enrich themselves, play games, and build up their power while ignoring and even enabling the suffering of millions of hard-working Americans," said Gabbard in a Tuesday tweet. "Kari Lake is a leader who puts people first, is fighting for border security, energy independence, public safety, and other policies that actually make life better and more affordable for the American people."
She added: "Kari Lake isn’t afraid to call out the warmongering elitist cabal of permanent Washington and the Military Industrial Complex, and their propagandists in the mainstream media. I look forward to supporting @KariLake ahead of these critical midterm elections."
"Truly an honor to have an endorsement from this American Hero," said Lake in her response to Gabbard's endorsement.
Gabbard is reportedly joining Lake at a Tuesday campaign stop in Chandler, Arizona hosted by Arizona Young Republicans along with Republican Senate candidate Blake Masters and Republican Attorney General candidate Abraham Hamadeh.
The former Democrat also endorsed Republican Congressional candidate and veteran Joe Kent last week.
"My friend Joe Kent is a fighter he’s dedicated his life to ensuring the safety, security and freedom of the American people and our country," Gabbard said. "With your vote, Joe’s going to go to Washington and work tirelessly to secure the border and bring you and your loved ones peace of mind."
Both Kent and Lake have received endorsements from former Republican President Donald Trump.
Last Tuesday, Gabbard announced in a 28-minute-long YouTube video she was leaving the Democratic party run by "elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness."
"I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic party," Gabbard said. "It’s now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of war mongers driven by cowardly wokeness who divide us by racializing every issue and stoking anti-white racism, who actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms enshrined in our constitution and who are hostile to people of faith and spirituality, who demonize the police, who protect criminals at the expense of law."
Gabbard further took aim at the Biden administration's policies on misinformation: Today’s Democratic party does not believe in our constitutionally protected right to free speech. Fostering diversity of thought and freedom of expression is the very foundation of any flourishing democracy. Democratic party leaders don’t agree. They are led by fanatical ideologues who pose a threat to our democracy because they don’t believe in freedom. They don’t believe in freedom of speech, they don’t believe in freedom of thought, freedom of religion. Because of that, they try to censor speech that they don’t like, labeling it as, "Hey, this is misinformation, this is hate speech, this is violent speech." And they’re working hand in glove with corporate for-profit media and Big Tech to smear and silence political opponents and anyone who dares to challenge their authority, their narrative, and therefore exposing their insecurities. Not too long ago, the Biden administration even tried launching their own ministry of truth with the objective of controlling what information we are allowed to read, hear, and say. They will determine what is misinformation, what is true, and what is not. Now their ideology is one of hate and divisiveness rather than respect and love, Aloha. And they stand diametrically opposed to traditional liberalism which recognizes the basic goodness of people and the autonomy of the individual, supporting civil liberties, supporting a government of the people by the people and for the people. Now tell me, how can a political party that is opposed to freedom be trusted with our democracy and our God-given freedoms enshrined in the Constitution? They can’t be.
The former Democrat concluded the video by encouraging other Democrats to leave the Democratic party.
