Trump Calls on 'Willing States' to Deploy Their National Guard to Texas

Former President Donald Trump encouraged all "willing states" to deploy their National Guards to Texas to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants and send them "back across the border" in a post to Truth Social on Thursday.

Trump wrote two posts discussing the border and Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott's declaration that there is an invasion happening in his state.

The first post began, "When I was President, we had the most secure Border in History."

"Joe Biden has surrendered our Border and is aiding and abetting a massive Invasion of millions of Illegal Migrants into the United States," Trump continued. "Instead of fighting to protect our Country from this onslaught, Biden is, unbelievably, fighting to tie the hands of Governor Abbott and the State of Texas, so that the Invasion continues unchecked. In the face of this National Security, Public Safety, and Public Health Catastrophe, Texas has rightly invoked the Invasion Clause of the Constitution, and must be given full support to repel the Invasion.…"

The next post contained the call to action.

"We encourage all willing States to deploy their guards to Texas to prevent the entry of Illegals, and to remove them back across the Border," Trump wrote.

"All Americans should support the commonsense measures by Texas authorities to protect the Safety, Security, and Sovereignty of Texas, and of the American people," the former president continued.

The frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination continued on to say that when he is president, on day one, he will work with Governor Abbott and other border states to "Stop the Invasion, Seal the Border, and Rapidly Begin the Largest Domestic Deportation Operation in History."

"Those Biden has let in should not get comfortable because they will be going home," Trump concluded.

As of Thursday evening, 25 Republican governors signed a statement declaring they stand with Governor Abbott.

"I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary," Abbott wrote in Wednesday's statement. He added that he will use the Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other state entities to secure the border.

The letter of support stated, "We stand in solidarity with our fellow Governor, Greg Abbott, and the State of Texas in utilizing every tool and strategy, including razor wire fences, to secure the border. We do it in part because the Biden Administration is refusing to enforce immigration laws already on the books and is illegally allowing mass parole across America of migrants who entered our country illegally."

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy, Arkansas Governor Sarah Sanders, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, Idaho Governor Brad Little, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, Missouri Governor Mike Parson, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, Utah Governor Spencer Cox, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, and Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon signed Thursday's statement.
