'The View' Suggests Trump Should Be Censored In Debates

Hosts of ABC's The View suggested former President Donald Trump should be censored in future debates with President Joe Biden in what may be a rematch between the two this November.

Co-hosts Sara Haines and Whoopi Goldberg made suggestions for future debates with Trump and said the former president should have been assaulted during his 2016 debate with then-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

"Normally, my gut would tell me it's good for democracy," Haines said. "I caveat that with we know these two men as well as we do. It would be more important for them to be debating."

Haines said she wished Trump debated in a phone booth so his microphone could be cut off in order to fact check and prevent the former president from "gaslighting."

"Oftentimes, the comparison to Donald Trump makes anyone look 'less than' on some level," she continued. "I know he looks crazy too, but you remember how he would come behind Hillary ... and he was like always hovering."

Haines claimed Trump had "nonverbal cues" to evoke a sense of strength to his supporters.

"The only debate I would like to see is him and Nikki Haley," she added.

"She should have kicked her foot backwards and hit him where it hurts," Goldberg said in reference to Clinton and Trump's debate.

Fellow co-host Alyssa Farah-Griffin, who previously worked in the Trump administration, said she liked the idea of mic-cutting.

The panel then discussed the effectiveness of presidential debates and appeared to suggest a rematch debate between Trump and Biden may not be necessary.

"Donald Trump needs to have to stand next to Joe Biden, and Joe Biden needs to call him out on the unfitness," Farah-Griffin said as the panel collectively pushed back on her assertion. "Nearly 80 million people voted for him."

Farah-Griffin continued her thought, though was steamrolled by the panel over giving Trump a spotlight on the debate stage.

"There's no one left standing in America who isn't aware that this person—," Goldberg began as fellow co-host Joy Behar interjected Trump was an "orange menace."

"This is an election where there are the most politically homeless Republicans you've probably ever seen in modern history," Farah-Griffin said. "People like me who cannot vote for Donald Trump, but they still want to hear answers on policy."

Haines suggested Biden could lose a debate, though Trump could not as his supporters would continue their support whether Trump participated in the debate or not.

"Biden makes one mistake, and people who are undecided are out," Haines added.
