Supergroup The Defiant have released a new song in support of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The new track is a cover of The Interrupters' "Take Back The Power," which the band played on their recent tour with UltraBomb and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.
The Defiant's music video is shot in black and white and features frontman Dicky Barrett, formerly of The Mighty Mighty BossToneS, donning a "Vote RFK. Jr. '24" button while color footage of Kennedy campaigning plays in the background. The video also features footage of President Joe Biden eating ice cream, former President Donald Trump displaying his infamous golden high-top sneakers, and archival footage of the independent presidential candidate's father Robert F. Kennedy Sr. and uncle President John F. Kennedy.
"What's your plan for tomorrow? / Are you a leader, or will you follow? / Will you fight back, or will you cower? / It's our time to take back the power," Barrett sings.
The video ends with an image of Kennedy speaking to a crowd of supporters overlayed with "KENNEDY 2024." @TheDefiantUSA has release a cover of The Interrupters’ “Take Back The Power.”

Kennedy launched his bid for the Democratic nomination in April 2023 though announced he would run as an independent candidate in October.
Barrett has been a vocal supporter of Kennedy's campaign.
The Defiant consists of five former members of previously established bands, including Barrett, drummer Pete Parada formerly of The Offspring, former Smash Mouth guitarist Greg Camp, former Street Dogs bassist Johnny Rioux, and former member of The Briggs Joey La Rocca on guitar and keys.
“All I’ve ever really wanted to do is bring people together and share a message of peace, love, and unity,” said Barrett of the supergroup. “With that in mind, the music created by The Defiant could very well be some of the best I’ve ever had a hand in making, as well as one of the most important and thoughtful musical experiences of my career. I am thrilled to be a part of it.”
The band released their debut album If We're Really Being Honest last October and made their debut network performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in April.
Following his departure from the Offspring, Parada partnered with Timcast owner and CEO Tim Pool for a series of songs released by the podcaster.
