Texas Senator Ted Cruz praised the upcoming original film release Lady Ballers from conservative media outlet The Daily Wire.
Lady Ballers is the latest original film from The Daily Wire and is scheduled for release on Dec. 1 through the outlet's streaming platform, DailyWire+.
Co-CEO of The Daily Wire Jeremy Boreing stars in the upcoming film as a former high school basketball coach, Rob. In a desperate effort to win a competition, Rob employs a team of biological men who adopt modern radical gender theory and identify as women to defeat multiple female sports teams.
Boreing is joined by other Daily Wire podcast hosts Jake Crain, Blain Crain, and David Cone from the outlet’s sports podcast, Crain & Co and fellow Daily Wire podcast host Matt Walsh, along with other conservative figures including Cruz.
“Today, Cultural Marxists enforce their ideology through not only the government, but also through education, journalism, Big Tech, Big Business, sports, music, and Hollywood,” Cruz said in a statement to The Daily Wire. “I just wrote a bestselling book, ‘Unwoke: How to Defeat Cultural Marxism in America’, to establish the game plan for taking our country back. I am proud to join the Daily Wire and support their effort to break through Hollywood’s woke toxicity and expose the comedic irony of Leftist ideology.”
The Texas senator referred to males participating in women's sports as "so outrageous it's almost comedic" and said "leftist radicals are trying to permanently destroy women's sports."
“They’re so out of control, the regular news headlines are starting to read as if they were written by the Babylon Bee,” Cruz added. “I was proud to appear in the Daily Wire’s new comedy that will call out the leftists destroying women’s sports and taking opportunities away from female athletes. Oh yeah, and the movie is funny as hell too!”
Cruz is joined by other Daily Wire hosts Ben Shapiro, Michael Knowles, Brett Cooper, and Andrew Klavan, who also make cameos in the upcoming film.
“The only thing happening in our culture more absurd and hilarious than men calling themselves women and then dominating women’s sports is that the ‘speak truth to power’ set on the left not only won’t make fun of it, they won’t even acknowledge it’s a joke,” Boreing said of Lady Ballers. “This movie is for the women who have trained their entire lives only to be beaten at their sport by a man who couldn’t win at his, the majority of Americans who find the whole idea of men in women’s sports to be objectively wrong, and anyone who misses comedy – which the woke left destroyed on their ascent to cultural primacy.”
Although the film’s production was kept away from the public eye, a group of protestors reportedly bullied and harassed cast and crew of Lady Ballers during production and pressured one filming location to cancel their contract with The Daily Wire, according to the outlet.
