Sunny Hostin Suggests Brittany Mahomes' Support For Trump Is 'Problematic'

The View's Sunny Hostin took issue with Brittany Mahomes' recent support of former President Donald Trump

In late August, Mahomes "liked" an Instagram post from Trump detailing his 2024 "Make America Great Again" platform, which included tax cuts, eliminating tax on tips for service workers, border security, and tackling illegal immigration.

During a Wednesday broadcast of the ABC program, Hostin suggested Mahomes, who is married to Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, didn't understand how her interracial marriage was implicated by her support for Trump.

"It just seems to me that since she is in an interracial marriage, she should have known that to support a racist is problematic," Hostin said. “Her children are biracial, and her family is one of the families that in the 70s could not have lived in any of Donald Trump’s buildings."

Hostin went on to question whether Mahomes was ignorant to the "problematic" nature of her implied support for Trump's platform.

"It just seems to me that maybe she’s just not that politically savvy or maybe she’s just not read in, but it's problematic," Hostin said.

After receiving pushback from critics, Mahomes posted to her Instagram story: "I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood."

"There's no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well," Mahomes added.

The former president later extended his appreciation to Mahomes for defending him and his platform.

"I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country," Trump wrote. "What a great couple - See you both at the Super Bowl!"

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has also commented on politics, though declined to endorse any candidate for president.

“I think I’ve always said I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever either way,” he said, per A To Z Sports. “I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote, is to inform people to do their own research and then make their best decision for them and their family.”

“Whenever I’m hanging out with whoever, I’m not thinking about their political views. I’m thinking about the people and how they treat other people,” he added.
