House Majority Leader Steve Scalise has endorsed former President Donald Trump for re-election this November.
Scalise announced his endorsement in a Tuesday X post.
"I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for President in 2024," Scalise wrote. "I look forward to working with President Trump and a Republican House and Senate to fight for those families who are struggling under the weight of Biden's failed policies."
Trump has received endorsements from seven governors, including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice, and Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as Trump's White House Press Secretary from 2017 until 2019. The former President has also been endorsed by over 100 lawmakers, including South Carolina Sen. Lindsay Graham, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, and Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz.
Other notable figures who have endorsed Trump for re-election include entrepreneur Robert Kiyosaki of the Rich Dad Company, rapper Waka Flocka Flame, country artist and lead vocalist of rock band Staind, Aaron Lewis, along with professional golfer John Daly.
Former Fox News host and journalist Tucker Carlson has not endorsed any presidential candidates, though revealed last year he became an "active" supporter of the former President after the FBI raided Trump's Mar-a-Lago, Florida home in August 2022.
“I certainly support Trump, I can tell you, well I’ve always agreed with Trump’s policies, always, and I’ve lost friends over it,” Carlson said. “And I’ve never really actively supported anybody because it’s not my job to actively support people, I like to watch, you know … but I became an active Trump supporter when they raided Mar-a-Lago last summer, the summer of 2022. That can’t stand.”
Carlson said he would vote for Trump and would send "max donations" and "lead protests" if the former President is convicted of any crimes stemming from his several indictments throughout last year.
Trump leads runner up GOP candidates Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley by 51.3 points, according to RealClearPolitics. DeSantis and Haley lead entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy by 7 points.
In a potential rematch, the polling aggregator shows Trump leading President Biden by 2.3 points.
In October last year, Scalise was one of several candidates seeking to succeed former Speaker Kevin McCarthy after he was removed from the office of Speaker of the House by Gaetz and seven other House Republicans. Other potential successors who vied for the seat included Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, and Louisiana Rep. Mike Johnson, who ultimately secured Speakership with unanimous support from House Republicans. Johnson and Jordan have both endorsed Trump for re-election this November.
