Rihanna Faces Backlash For Seductive Nun Photoshoot

Rihanna has received backlash over her latest photoshoot featuring the pop star dressed as a nun in a seductive manner.

The photos, which come from the pop star's Tuesday profile piece with Interview Magazine, titled "Rihanna Is Ready to Confess," were shared to Rihanna's X account.

A short video of Rihanna clutching her breast while dressed as a nun was also shared in the post.

Critics took issue with Rihanna's portrayal of a nun as commenters noted Christianity was overwhelmingly mocked opposed to other religions.

"Rihanna mocks Catholics," wrote BlazeTV's Chad Prather. "She'd never try this with Islam."

"Teach your children not to admire, follow, or listen to morons like this," he added.

"Should Interview Magazine and Rihanna try a similar photoshoot with a hijab?" wrote another user.

"Rihanna taunting Christianity by portraying herself as a 'slutty nun' on the cover of Interview Magazine," wrote another user. "The entertainment industry, which is controlled by pedophiles, loves to mock God."

Shortly after the photos were shared, users across TikTok began recreating the pop star's photoshoot sparking a new trend on the platform.

Rihanna references God at several points in the interview, though does not specifically divulge her own faith.

During the interview, the pop star discussed the COVID-19 pandemic and her relationship with fellow entertainer A$AP Rocky as it relates to God.

"COVID sped up our relationship, which I felt like God knew we needed because we were going to start a family," she said. "Had it not been for COVID, we would’ve taken a lot more time to get comfortable with each other, to even know that we were ready."

Rihanna, a mother of two, also discussed having more children in the future, saying she wanted to have "As many as God wants me to have.”

“I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy," the pop star added.

In 2020, Rihanna apologized to the Islamic community after including a song which featured an Islamic verse, known as a Hadith, in that year's Savage X Fenty fashion show.

“I would more importantly like to apologize to you for this honest, yet careless mistake," Rihanna wrote in an Instagram post at the time. "We understand that we have hurt many of our Muslim sisters and brothers, and I’m incredibly disheartened by this!”

“I do not play with any kind of disrespect toward God or any religion and therefore the use of this song in our project was completely irresponsible!” she added.
