Rep. Gaetz to Introduce 'Spook Who Cried Wolf' Resolution to Bar Security Clearances of Officials Who Lied About Hunter Biden's Laptop

Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz is introducing the “Spook Who Cried Wolf Resolution” to indefinitely bar security clearances for 51 intelligence officials who publicly lied and labeled the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian disinformation.

The resolution is co-sponsored by Representatives Andy Biggs, Dan Bishop, Louie Gohmert, Paul Gosar, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Thomas Massie.

After Hunter Biden left his laptop at a computer repair shop, it ended up in the hands of Steve Bannon and subsequently the New York Post. Among seemingly endless amounts of homemade porn and drug usage by the now-president's son, there were also emails shedding light into the $50,000 a month job Hunter obtained at Ukrainian gas company Burisma.

The emails revealed that Hunter Biden had introduced his father, who was Vice President at the time, to a top executive at the firm less than a year before Joe Biden pressured government officials in Ukraine into firing a prosecutor who was investigating the company. An earlier email showed an executive asking Hunter how he for “advice on how you could use your influence” on the company's behalf.

The exposé destroyed Joe Biden’s claim that he’s “never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings”

On October 19, 2020, 51 former intelligence officials signed a letter titled, “Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails,” which falsely claimed that emails were a part of a “Russian information operation.”

The letter claimed in part, "such an operation would be consistent with Russian objectives, as outlined publicly and recently by the Intelligence Community, to create political chaos in the United States and to deepen political divisions here but also to undermine the candidacy of former Vice President Biden and thereby help the candidacy of President Trump. For the Russians at this point, with Trump down in the polls, there is incentive for Moscow to pull out the stops to do anything possible to help Trump win and/or to weaken Biden should he win. A 'laptop op' fits the bill, as the publication of the emails are clearly designed to discredit Biden."

"It is high time that Russia stops interfering in our democracy," the letter concluded.

Their claims helped create an excuse for Big Tech to censor the New York Post’s exposé on the emails, with Twitter suspending the newspaper's account and temporarily barring people from sharing the article. They claimed that it had violated their policy against "hacked" materials.

Facebook also restricted the article being shared.

Once the election was over and Biden was in the White House, the New York Times admitted that the content of the laptop, and the Post's report, was authentic.

Signatories of the letter included Jim Clapper, Mike Hayden, Leon Panetta, John Brennan, Thomas Finger, Rick Ledgett, and John McLaughlin.
