A reported member of the Proud Boys has pleaded guilty to transporting illegal immigrants in Arizona.
Barry Lloyd James Johnson is currently being prosecuted for criminal offenses during the Oregon City Clackamette Park riot after allegedly being seen on police body camera, bystander video, and drone footage from the June 2021 incident.
In a December guilty plea, Johnson said he drove illegal immigrants into Arizona in violation of federal law while awaiting his Oregon trial date. "On or about Nov. 15, 2023, in the District of Arizona, I, Barry Johnson, was driving a 2018 Dodge Durango near Palominas. I was transporting two illegal aliens in the vehicle, including Adrian Sanchez-Texis and Wilmer Jannini Ocampo-Estrada," Johnson wrote, per Sandy Post. "I knew the individuals were illegal aliens, and I intended to assist them in remaining in the United States unlawfully. I was going to be paid for the transportation."Loading...
Human smugglers offered to pay him $800 to transport Sanchez-Texis and Ocampo-Estrada into Arizona. Johnson also said he was looking for work in the state after he had been involved in a car accident and lost his previous job, according to Johnson. The Proud Boy member faces up to two years in federal prison for transporting illegal immigrants into Arizona.
In late December, Johnson claimed his Arizona imprisonment is lengthier than the imprisonment he faced for the 2021 riot in an attempt to side-step his Oregon imprisonment. Johnson's request to avoid his Oregon conviction was denied by Clackmas County Circuit Presiding Judge Michael C. Wetzel after prosecutors said Johnson did not appear for his Nov. 3 appearance in the state.
According to Oregon prosecutors, Johnson assaulted an Antifa member in 2021 after cutting down a sign that read "Antifa loves you." Johnson was ordered out of Clackmette Park after he engaged in threatening and violent behavior toward others in the park.
Johnson was also convicted of harassing someone at a Planned Parenthood in Salem, Oregon in April 2022. The Proud Boy member was sentenced to an 18-month probation and ordered to complete an Anger Management Program through MW Services.
