'Most Toxic Feminist That's Ever Lived': Candace Owens Tees Off On Taylor Swift

Candace Owens took aim at Taylor Swift saying the pop star was the "most toxic feminist that's ever lived."

Owens made her remark during a Tuesday night broadcast of The Daily Wire's roundtable program Backstage.

Swift's personal ethics were called into question by Owens, who suggested the pop star could "manipulate" her fans to "get out of deals" and "contracts."

"She's totally insane," Owens said. "She's the most toxic feminist that's ever existed."

"She writes a song about a guy, and then has 15 million girls seeing the songs and drops little clues so they know who it's about," Owens continued. "It's totally psychotic, if you think about it."

"I don't think you appreciate how psychotic that is, that you can't date her for two weeks without her writing a song about you," she continued and referenced one of Swift's past boyfriends, John Mayer. "He was like, 'I literally did nothing to her. We went on one date, and I didn't deserve this.'"

Owens also referenced Swift's recent conflict with record executive Scooter Braun in which the pop star took issue with Braun's company, Big Machine Records, who owned the masters to her songs.

"She was just like, 'As a woman, I sat on the floor and I wrote these songs,'" Owens said. "And then they tried to kill Scooter Braun's family."

The Daily Wire host said Braun did "nothing wrong" with the purchase of Swift's master recordings and noted Braun then sold the masters to Shamrock Holdings.

Owens transitioned her criticism towards Swift's current boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end player Travis Kelce, and said their relationship was a "genius business move" as the NFL player has typically dated black women.

"This is gonna be one album, and it's over," she said. "He's not going from, like, black girls to Taylor Swift. This is like a business move."

Fellow Daily Wire personality Matt Walsh pushed back on Owen's suggestion that Swift was the "most toxic feminist," though said he largely agreed with her assessment. Owens said Swift was a "new breed of feminism," which she referred to as the "Lena Dunham School of Thought."

"She literally said, 'Lena Dunham taught me feminism,'" Owens added, "which basically means you can get whatever you want so long as you're able to sell to people that you're a victim because you're a woman."

Swift commented on her friendship with Dunham in a 2014 interview with The Guardian.

“Without [Lena] preaching to me, but just seeing why she believes what she believes, why she says what she says, why she stands for what she stands for – has made me realize that I’ve been taking a feminist stance without actually saying so,” Swift said at the time.
