Mass Shooting and Large Explosion at Packed Concert Hall Outside Moscow — Dozens Feared Dead

Dozens are feared to be dead after a group of mass shooters wearing fatigues targeted a large concert venue and shopping center outside of Moscow on Friday evening.

At least three terrorists burst into Crocus City Hall and began throwing grenades and firing automatic weapons, according to early reports from Russian media.

Russian news outlet RT reports:

Some media report that 40 people were killed and more than 100 injured as a result of the shooting. No official confirmation has been issued yet.

Press outlets report the use of explosives and video shows black smoke rising above the building. State news wire service TASS suggests up to a third of the huge complex has been engulfed in flames.

The agency has added that special forces soldiers from the Russian Guard have arrived at the location. Meanwhille, there are unconfirmed claims that helicopters have been sent to extinguish the blaze.

Shocking footage of the terrorist attack showed massive flames rising from the concert hall. Other videos showed the shooters targeting civilians seemingly at random.

“We were sitting in the center of the hall. The concert began, just a couple of minutes passed, one or two grenades exploded in the middle, gray smoke started pouring out. Panic began,” a witness who was at the concert told Russian outlet RIA Novosti.

The United States appeared to have advance notice of an impending terrorist attack as the State Department had warned Americans to avoid large gatherings, specifically including concerts, just two weeks before the attack.
