Kamala Harris Vows to 'Earn and Win' Dem Presidential Nomination After Joe Biden Withdraws from Race and Endorses Her

Vice President Kamala Harris has vowed to "earn and win" the nomination after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed her on Sunday.

Biden endorsed Harris just after 2 p.m. on Sunday, about 15 minutes after publicly announcing that he was stepping aside.

Biden wrote in a post on X:

My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.

Harris called Biden's decision to step down a “selfless and patriotic act.”

"On behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and for his decades of service to our country," Harris wrote. "His remarkable legacy of accomplishment is unmatched in modern American history, surpassing the legacy of many Presidents who have served two terms in office."

Harris said that it is a "profound honor" to serve as Biden's vice president and that she is "deeply grateful" to the entire Biden family.

"With this selfless and patriotic act, President Biden is doing what he has done throughout his life of service: putting the American people and our country above everything else," Harris continued.

“I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination,” she added. “Over the past year, I have traveled across the country, talking with Americans about the clear choice in this momentous election. And that is what I will continue to do in the days and weeks ahead. I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic party — and unite our nation — to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.”

Trump has repeatedly disavowed the conservative Project 2025 being presented by the Heritage Foundation.

The statement concluded with Harris saying, "We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win."
