Kamala Harris Expected to Announce VP Pick on Tuesday — Has Interviewed Three Final Contenders

Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to announce her running mate on Tuesday, just two weeks into her presidential campaign.

Harris is expected to rally with her running mate at Temple University in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

According to a CNN report, Harris has already interviewed her final three contenders but had not made a decision by Monday morning.

The final three are reportedly Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, and Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona.

Reuters narrowed it down even further, reporting that it is between Shapiro and Walz.

Shapiro appears to be the establishment favorite, but many have speculated that he will not be chosen due to his time volunteering with the Israel Defense Forces. Choosing him could alienate a large portion of the left who has been very adamantly and vocally against Israel's war in Gaza.

The CNN report explains, "Harris had not made a decision as of Monday morning, a source familiar with the process told CNN, after a day of interviews with finalists on Sunday. The campaign plans to officially announce the choice through an online message to supporters before a rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday, where she’s expected to make her first appearance with her pick. Harris hopes to keep it under wraps 'until as close to then as possible,' a person familiar with the search told CNN."

Reuters appears to have confirmed the interviews with its own unnamed sources, adding that the meetings took place at Harris' Naval Observatory residence.

"The vice president met with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for 90 minutes on Friday and was also meeting candidates virtually, the sources said," Reuters reports. "Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker had been the other candidates in contention for the job."
