'Just Noise': DeSantis Brushes Off Repeated Trump Attacks

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis responded to former President Donald Trump's comments by brushing off his attacks as "just noise" during a Tuesday press conference.

One reporter asked DeSantis to comment on criticisms Trump lodged against the Florida Governor in a series of Truth Social posts last week.

"Well, you know, one of the things I’ve learned in this job is when you’re doing, when you’re leading, when you’re getting things done, you take incoming fire, that’s just the nature of it," said the Florida Governor. "I roll out of bed in the morning, I’ve got corporate media outlets that have a spasm, just the fact that I’m getting up in the morning, and it’s constantly attacking, and this is just what’s happened."

"I don’t think any governor got attacked more particularly by corporate media than me over my four-year term," DeSantis continued. "And yet, I think what you learn is all that’s just noise. And really what matters is: Are you leading? Are you getting in front of issues? Are you delivering results for people? And are you standing up for folks? And if you do that, then none of that stuff matters. And that’s what we’ve done."

"We focused on results and leadership. And, you know, at the end of the day, I would just tell people to go check out the scoreboard from last Tuesday night," DeSantis concluded. "The fact of the matter is, it was the greatest Republican victory in the history of the state of Florida."

Last Wednesday, former President Trump noted he received more votes in Florida during the 2020 Presidential election than DeSantis received in last Tuesday's midterm election in what appeared to be a backhanded compliment in a Truth Social post.

“Now that the Election in Florida is over, and everything went quite well, shouldn’t it be said that in 2020, I got 1.1 Million more votes in Florida than Ron D got this year, 5.7 Million to 4.6 Million? Just asking?”

Trump further referred to DeSantis as an "average Republican Governor with great Public Relations" in a series of posts which were also released as a long-form email through his PAC Save America.

"Governor Ron DeSanctimonious [is] an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations," said Trump, using a nickname he gave the Florida Governor at a campaign rally leading up to last Tuesday’s midterm.

Trump continued:

Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017—he was politically dead, losing in a landslide ... he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win. ...  I then got Ron by the ‘Star’ of the Democrat Party, Andrew Gillum (who was later revealed to be a ‘Crack Head’), by having two massive Rallies with tens of thousands of people at each one. I also fixed his campaign, which had completely fallen apart. I was all in for Ron ... And now, Ron DeSanctimonious is playing games! The Fake News asks him if he’s going to run if President Trump runs, and he says, ‘I’m only focused on the Governor’s race, I’m not looking into the future.’

Former President Trump is largely speculated to announce his official statement of intent to run in the 2024 Presidential election tonight.
