John Cena Presents Oscar for Best Costume Design Wearing Only an Envelope and Birkenstocks

John Cena wore only an envelope and Birkenstocks on Sunday night to present the 2024 Oscar for Best Costume Design.

The bit began with host Jimmy Kimmel recalling the "craziest moment in Oscar history" during the Academy Awards in 1974 when a nude man streaked onstage.

"Can you imagine if a nude man ran across the stage today?" Kimmel asked.

The question was jokingly meant to be Cena's cue to come out on stage in the buff. Instead, he called Kimmel over backstage to discuss his reservations.

"I changed my mind. I don't want to do the streaker bit anymore," Cena said as part of the sketch. "I just don't feel right about it. This is an elegant event. Honestly, you should feel ashamed right now for suggesting such a tasteless idea."

"You wrestle naked, why not?" Kimmel shot back.

"Dude, I don't wrestle naked. I wrestle in jorts," Cena replied.

Kimmel fired back, "Jorts are worse than naked."

At this point, Kimmel left the stage, and Cena came out with just the envelope covering his genitals.

It has been reported by multiple outlets that Cena was wearing skin-colored "adhesive underpants" that covered his pubic area and butt crack.

"Costumes, they are so important. Maybe the most important thing there is," Cena said. "I can't open the envelope."

As the nominees were introduced, Cena was dressed in a toga. He was fully covered by the time all names were read.
