Four Chicago Hotels Receive Bomb Threats on Second Day of the DNC

Bomb threats have reportedly been sent to four hotels near where the Democratic National Convention is taking place in Chicago, Illinois.

The threats were emailed to the local Fox 32 newsroom.

The station reported that the email claimed: "pipe bombs were placed in the Hotel Chicago West Loop and the Hyatt House Chicago in West Loop and the University District."

"The threat mentioned the Democratic National Convention that is taking place this week on the city's Near West Side. It also included anti-semitic statements," the report added.

Fox 32 political correspondent Paris Schutz wrote in a post on X, "Police and K9’s at the Nobu Hotel in west loop … our news desk received an email claiming a pipe bomb threat at this and three other west loop / near west side hotels."

The email also claimed there was a bomb in the Nobu Hotel on North Peoria Street. Police with K9s were seen searching the hotel just before noon. Nothing suspicious was found.

The DNC has been subject to large protests against the US government's support for Israel and the war on Gaza. Multiple arrests were made after some of the militant activists tore down a security barrier.

The Chicago Police Department told The New York Post, “The U.S. Secret Service is aware of threats made to various locations in the Downtown area. Law enforcement personnel are screening the affected areas and examining the credibility of the threat.”
