Former United States Attorney General Bill Barr discussed his decision to support former President Donald Trump over President Joe Biden in the upcoming November election.
Barr, who briefly served as AG under Trump's administration, has previously expressed criticism for his former boss. While discussing Trump's ongoing "hush money" trial during a Saturday appearance on Fox News, Barr said the "far-left" was a greater threat to the country than Trump.
"I'm not happy with the choice. I think this is a terrible choice for the country, but it is a choice," Barr said of the likely rematch between Trump and Biden this November. "But at the end of the day, we have to select between two different individuals."
The former United States AG said it was his "duty" to vote for whoever he believed would "do the least harm to the country."
"To me, that's clearly Trump and a Republican administration, which I think is important," he said.

Barr warned of the nation's looming border crisis, along with rising crime and business regulation disincentivizing innovation.
"These are things that have to be done, and I think we'll get them done under a Trump administration," Barr said. "At the same time, I think the Biden administration is in fact a greater threat to democracy. They have a totalitarian temper, they have bought into the progressive movement, and they're trying to squelch opposition and freedom of speech."
Despite having criticized Trump's contesting of the 2020 presidential election, Barr reiterated: "I don't think Biden should be anywhere near the Oval Office."
"I don't think either ... should be near the Oval Office, but if one of them is going to be, there's no doubt in my mind that it's better for the country for Republicans to win the election," Barr continued. "I think that [Trump] has an opportunity to win if he doesn't boot it."
Barr said he found Trump's policies to be favorable, though took issue with his behavior following the 2020 election.
"I think the idea that he’s going to be an autocrat and take over power like some right-wing dictator is not the threat facing our country," he continued. "The threat to our country is from the far-left and the drift that’s been occurring toward really a socialistic system and one that brooks no opposition, that cancels people, that has only one viewpoint taught in colleges that tries to push parents out of the picture when it comes to the education of their children."
“It is a heavy-handed bunch of thugs, in my opinion, and that’s where the threat is," Barr added.
