Florida Resort Cancels Event Featuring Marjorie Taylor Greene on Third Anniversary of January 6 Protest

A Florida resort has cancelled an event featuring Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene that was supposed to take place on the third anniversary of the January 6 protest.

On Thursday, the Westgate Resort issued a statement saying it had cancelled the event because it was “not made aware” of what it was ahead of time.

According to a report from The Hill, "the event invited Republicans in Kissimmee, Fla. — a town just outside of Orlando — to join Greene and receive a signed copy of her recently published memoir, 'MTG.'"

The event was going to be hosted by the Republican Party of Osceola County. Tickets ranged from $45-$1,000.

"This will be a tiered ticket event," the event's ticketing page read. "General admission will receive a book and be able to hear MTG speak. VIPs will get their pictures with MTG and receive preferred seating during the speech. Super VIPs will be invited to a special private briefing on J6 and DC in a closed-door session."

"This is a fantastic opportunity to get your hands on a signed copy of her book and have the opportunity to meet with the Congresswoman herself," the event page continued.

In the statement obtained by The Hill, Westgate said, "Please be advised that Westgate was not made aware of the purpose of this event when we were approached to host a book signing."

"This event has been cancelled and is no longer taking place at our resort," the statement continued.

Democrat Florida State Rep. Anna Eskamani had blasted Rep. Greene over the event in a post on X on Wednesday.

"Just another day in Florida where the local Republican Party in Osceola County is hosting an 'anniversary' event to mark January 6th and Marjorie Taylor Green is the 'special' guest. Was really hoping this was a joke when I first saw it," Rep. Eskamani wrote.

Tickets were still available to purchase late Thursday evening, but a new venue was not announced.
