Fetterman’s Communications Director Goes on Record Speaking Out Against His Views on Israel

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman’s own communications director has spoken out against his views on Israel on record to a reporter.

The communications director, Carrie Adams, dismissed Fetterman's views on Israel and its war as "a lot less nuanced" than her own.

Adams was speaking to Free Press senior editor Peter Savodnik when she stated, "I don't agree with him."

"I have a sense that his international views are a lot less nuanced than my generation, because when he was growing up, it was might makes right, and for my generation and younger who, of course, are the ones protesting this, they have a much more nuanced view of the region," Adams continued.

Savodnik was shocked by the dissent and wrote, "I’ve been a reporter since the summer of 1998, when I covered Bill Clinton’s trip to Martha’s Vineyard for the Vineyard Gazette. This was the first time I’d ever encountered anyone—on Capitol Hill or anywhere else, on the record, off the record, on background, whatever—criticizing 'the principal.'"

This is not the first time those close to Fetterman have spoken out against his support for Israel. Sixteen former campaign staffers calling themselves “Fetterman Alumni for Peace” released an open letter publicly calling on him to speak out in favor of a ceasefire on October 20, 2023.

The letter stated in part, "Senator, it is not too late to change your stance and stand on the righteous side of history. The horrors unfolding against Palestinians are only getting worse by the day. Continued violence and bloodshed does not serve the Israeli or Palestinian people, it will only continue to kill civilians on both sides. We call on you to use the position we elected you to to champion peace, not war; and demand a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, the de-escalation of violence, safe return of Israeli hostages, and the safe passage of humanitarian aid to Gaza."

The call for peace fell on deaf ears as Fetterman has been extremely outspoken in his support for Israel's war, even taunting leftists and progressives as they protest in favor of a ceasefire.

Fetterman will not be attending the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week. The senator told the Free Press that his decision not to go was unrelated to Israel.
