'Extremely Honored': Matt Walsh Wins Transphobe Of The Year

'Extremely Honored': Matt Walsh Wins Transphobe Of The Year

On Tuesday, the Daily Wire's Matt Walsh was named "transphobe of the year" by the New Republic.

The outlet listed several high-profile critics of gender theory and transgender activists including Libs of TikTok, Fox News' Tucker Carlson, the Daily Wire's Ben Shapiro, and the Manhattan Institute’s Chris Rufo.

"But in a year when Transgender Day of Remembrance was marked by a mass shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, one man stands out from the crowd: Matt Walsh," wrote the New Republic.

The outlet said Walsh "[demonized] medical professionals" by criticizing the practice of "gender-affirming" care for children along with suggesting gender theory activists were grooming children. The New Republic further claimed Walsh was implicated in the November shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

"If the Club Q shooter is a 'lone wolf' attacker, we should consider Walsh the unofficial pack leader," the outlet wrote.

"While the bodies were still warm, the host of The Matt Walsh Show would log on to say, 'If [drag shows] are causing this much chaos and violence, why do you insist on continuing to do it? If, according to you, it’s like putting people’s lives at risk, if the effort to have men cross-dress in front of children is putting people’s lives at risk, why are you still doing it?'"

"Extremely honored to have earned the Transphobe of the Year award from [the New Republic]," Walsh responded to the article. "I want to thank everyone who supported me in pursuit of this goal. I don’t do it for the accolades, but I’m grateful and humbled to receive them.”

Walsh further changed his account's bio to include "Transphobe of the year 2022" following the New Republic's Tuesday article.

In September, the Daily Wire host revealed a Tennessee transgender clinic in conjunction with Vanderbilt University Medical Center was performing surgeries and other medical procedures on minors. The university reportedly stopped its practice on minors following Walsh's investigation.

Earlier this year, Walsh released a children's book titled, Johnny the Walrus detailing a child pretending to be a walrus as his mother sincerely encourages his imagination. The book reached No. 1 on Amazon's LGBTQ bestseller's list shortly after.

In June, Walsh released a documentary exploring the current narrative of gender ideology and gender expression titled What is a Woman? The film features a string of interviews between Walsh and academic experts in the field of gender and sexuality, a handful of which appear flustered when Walsh asks the title’s eponymous question, “What is a woman?” The Daily Wire experienced a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack during the film’s premier on June 1.

Walsh hosts The Matt Walsh Show on the Daily Wire along with fellow podcasters Shapiro, Michael Knowles, Andrew Klavan, and Candace Owens.
