Elon Musk Livestreams Visit to U.S.-Mexico Border on X

Tech giant Elon Musk livesteamed his visit to the border in Eagle Pass, Texas, on Thursday.

Musk's decision to visit came after a conversation about the situation with Republican Texas Rep. Tony Gonzalez.

After arriving in the city, Musk posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that he would "start X livestream soon, so you can see the border situation in real-time."

In a four-minute live stream, Musk explained that he believes in legal immigration, as he is an immigrant himself.

Musk said that he would be showing the situation as he sees it, unfiltered and unedited.

A state of emergency was declared in Eagle Pass by Mayor Rolando Salinas Jr. last week over the massive influx of migrants.

“The City of Eagle Pass is committed to the safety and well being of our local citizens. The emergency declaration grants us the ability to request financial resources to provide the additional services caused by the influx of the undocumented immigrants,” Salinas said in a press release.

Speaking to reporters, Salinas said that many of the migrants are single males, some with criminal records.

“We don’t want these people just to be walking our streets. A lot of them do have records and talking to Border Patrol, talking to DPS, there’s no way of confirming who are these people,” Salinas said.

“This already has taken a toll on the economy by affecting commercial traffic. But we’re going to everything possible to make sure we maintain the order, maintain peace in Eagle Pass,” he added.
