Twitter owner and tech billionaire Elon Musk asked former CNN host Don Lemon to host a show on Twitter.
Musk extended the offer to Lemon in an early Wednesday morning tweet.
"Have you considered doing your show on this platform?" Musk asked in response to Lemon's April 24 tweet revealing his ousting. "Maybe worth a try."
Musk added: "Audience is much bigger."
The tech billionaire's offer follows former Fox News host Tucker Carlson's Tuesday announcement revealing he would broadcast a new show on Twitter "starting soon."
In a video shared to the platform, Carlson, who abruptly departed Fox News on the same day Lemon revealed he had been terminated by CNN, detailed how media can be manipulated to be factually correct despite being intentionally falsely framed.
“The news you consume is a lie,” Carlson said. “You are being manipulated.”
The former Fox News host revealed he would soon bring a "new version" of Tucker Carlson Tonight to Twitter.
The video has received over 108 million views since late Tuesday afternoon.
Musk responded to Carlson's announcement by saying he wanted to be clear that the former Fox News host had not made "any kind of" deal with Twitter and therefore would be "subject to the same rules & rewards of all content creators."
"On this platform, unlike the one-way street of broadcast, people are able to interact, critique and refute whatever is said," Musk wrote, referencing the implementation of Twitter's user-contributed fact-checking service. "Anything misleading will get Community Notes."
"I hope that many others, particularly from the left, also choose to be content creators on this platform," Musk concluded.
Lemon revealed his ousting from CNN in a Twitter post.
“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN,” Lemon wrote on Twitter, saying he was "stunned" by the news. “I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly."
He continued:At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play. With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best.
Senior media reporter for CNN Oliver Darcy confirmed Lemon’s ousting with a screenshot from CNN chairman and CEO Chris Licht’s letter to the company.
“CNN and Don have parted ways. Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the last 17 years,” reads Licht’s letter. “We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors.”
Lemon has not responded to Musk's suggestion as of Wednesday afternoon.
