Donald Trump Swipes at Nikki Haley Over Reports She is Gearing Up to Announce 2024 Run

Former President Donald Trump has swiped at Nikki Haley, his former ambassador to the UN, over reports that she is gearing up to challenge him in the Republican presidential primary.

Trump called Haley's honor into question in a post to Truth Social on Wednesday night.

"Nikki has to follow her heart, not her honor," Trump wrote. "She should definitely run!"

The former president also included a video from April 2021 of the hawkish politician saying, "I would not run if President Trump ran" in 2024.

In the video, Haley is asked by a reporter if she will support Trump, should he run, in 2024. She responds that she would.

The reporter follows up by asking, "if he decides that he’s going to run, would that preclude any sort of run that you would possibly make yourself?"

"I would not run if President Trump ran and I would talk to him about it. That’s something that we’ll have a conversation about at some point if that decision is something that has to be made," Haley replied.

According to a report from the Charleston Post and Courier, Haley plans to announce her run in Charleston, South Caroline, on February 15.

Haley has been hinting at a run for some time but has ramped up those efforts recently.

"It’s time for a new generation. It’s time for new leadership. And it’s time to take our country back. America is worth the fight—and we’re just getting started," Haley tweeted on January 20th, with a video of her speaking to Fox News host Sean Hannity.

Speaking to Bret Baier on Fox News in January, the neoconservative politician said, "when you're looking at a run for president, you look at two things. You first look at does the current situation push for new leadership? The second question is, 'Am I that person that could be that new leader?'"

"Yes, we need to go in a new direction. And can I be that leader? Yes. I think I can be that leader," Haley continued.
