Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has sent two airplanes full of Venezuelan migrants to Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts.
Republican governors have been shipping migrants to Democrat-run sanctuary cities and states all over the nation.
Martha's Vineyard is a favorite getaway of the liberal elite, including former President Barack Obama.
DeSantis' office confirmed that two flights were sent on Wednesday in a statement to Fox News.
"Yes, Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations," the governor’s communications director, Taryn Fenske, told Fox News.
"States like Massachusetts, New York, and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden administration’s open border policies," Fenske continued.
According to a report from the Martha's Vineyard Times, approximately 50 migrants were on the flights, including children.
Democrat State Rep. Dylan Fernandes called the move "evil" in a statement to the MV Times."It appears that one if not many Republican governors or operatives chartered flights from the south to come and drop undocumented or documented, I’m not sure, immigrants on Martha’s Vineyard," he said. "These governors or whoever it is, all they care about is scoring some political points on Tucker Carlson and Fox News and the fact that they are using human lives — women, children, men — as pawns in that and just really abusing these people dropping them off in a place where they don’t know where they are with no food and water just to be able to get in Tucker Carlson and Fox News’s good graces is disgusting. It’s inhumane. These people claim to be Christians? This is about as unChristian a thing as you could be doing. It’s evil."
The migrants were brought to the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School where they were given food before being sent to St. Andrews Church in Edgartown for temporary lodging.
Republican governors in Texas and Arizona have also been sending migrants to liberal strongholds, including Washington, D.C., to protest border policies that are overwhelming border states.
Illinois Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker announced this week that he is deploying 75 National Guard members over migrants being bussed from Texas to Chicago. It is estimated that approximately 500 have been sent there over the last two weeks.
Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a public emergency last week over the continuous busses full of migrants arriving in the city.
Brianne Nadeau, a member of the Council of the District of Columbia, has slammed the federal government for not helping the city handle the influx.
"So, it's been said, but it's worth reiterating, that the governors of Texas and Arizona have created this crisis. And, the federal government has not stepped up to assist the District of Columbia," she told reporters during a press conference with Mayor Bowser. "So we, along with our regional partners, we'll do what we've always done. We'll rise to the occasion."
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has responded to the complaints by noting that this is a daily problem for border states.
In July, Abbott's spokeswoman issued a statement saying that DC "finally understands" what the border states are going through.
"Washington, D.C. finally understands what Texans have been dealing with every single day, as our communities are overrun and overwhelmed by thousands of illegal immigrants thanks to President Biden’s open border policies," Abbott spokeswoman Renae Eze wrote in a statement to the Washington Examiner. "If the mayor wants a solution to this crisis, she should call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border — something he has failed to do."
Eze added that, the situation in DC does not compare to the "true ongoing humanitarian crisis" on the southern border.
