DeSantis Now Beating Trump Among Republicans in Hypothetical 2024 Poll

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis now leads former President Donald Trump among Republicans and right-leaning independents in a hypothetical 2024 poll.

The YouGov poll was conducted after the 2022 midterm elections on November 8.

The pollsters found that 23 percent of voters said they'd prefer DeSantis as the Republican nominee for president, while 20 percent said they would prefer Trump.

When the same poll was conducted in October, the results were reversed, and Trump was the favorite — 45 percent to 35 percent.

"Nearly half of Republicans (47%) say the Republican Party won fewer seats in Congress than they were expecting. Only 11% say their party won more than they expected," the pollsters reported.

While neither of the two have formally announced a presidential campaign, Trump has been expressing his discontent with the governor refusing to rule out a run.

“The Fake News asks him if he’s going to run if President Trump runs, and he says, ‘I’m only focused on the Governor’s race, I’m not looking into the future,'” Trump said in a statement, Axios reports. “Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that’s really not the right answer.”

Trump has nicknamed the governor "Ron DeSanctimonious."

“When I endorsed him, it was as though, to use a bad term, a nuclear weapon went off,” Trump continued, according to the report. “I also fixed his campaign, which had completely fallen apart, and now, Ron DeSanctimonious is playing games!”

The former president has heavily implied that he intends to run for the third time and is scheduled to make a "major announcement" from Mar-a-Lago on November 15.

It remains unclear if the midterm results will impact or delay his plans.
