Dennis Quaid opened up about his decision to support former President Donald Trump over President Joe Biden this November.
The actor discussed the upcoming election during a Tuesday appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
“I think I’m gonna vote for him in the next election,” Quaid told Morgan. “It just makes sense. I was ready not to vote for Trump, until what I saw is, more than politics, I see a weaponization of our justice system and a challenge to our Constitution.”
Quaid suggested Trump was the "most investigated person, probably in the history of the world," though noted efforts to take the former president down were consistently unsuccessful. Morgan noted a guilty conviction for Trump in any of his lawsuits would help his chances at re-election.
Morgan then asked if Quaid liked Trump personally, to which the actor said he frequently found himself questioning Trump's language and rhetoric during his initial 2016 and subsequent 2020 campaign.
"But as president, the only thing I liked about Trump was everything he did," Quaid said. "What he did with Korea, with Rocket Baby, the way he defeated ISIS in three weeks. You know, people don’t even remember, it happened so fast. How he stood up for us overseas. The way he responded to China." Here's the full clip of Dennis Quaid's remarks why he explains why he is going to vote for Trump and why he won't vote for Biden.

"He stands up to people and that’s what makes him a leader. Rather than, what I kind of compare it to, what was going on in Jimmy Carter’s administration, where we’re trying to be everybody’s friend and pal," the actor continued. "There’s some evil people and bad actors in this world and so, you know, people might call him an a--hole but he’s my a--hole."
The actor said he genuinely believed Trump worked for and put the interest of American citizens first.
"That’s what he’s all about, and I do believe that to be true and sincere," Quaid said.
Morgan then asked the actor if Biden's age was the main issue voters had with the President.
Quaid paused briefly before responding, “I don't feel he's at the helm, I don’t feel he’s there.”
“I feel that he says things to get votes, not that he truly believes them,” he added. “And now I’m really gonna get some blowback, but that’s the way I feel.”
Quaid portrays President Ronald Reagan in an upcoming biopic of the former president's life scheduled for a late-August release. The film is based on the 2006 book by Paul Kengor, The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism.
