Former President Donald Trump has announced that he will appoint a special prosecutor to go after President Joe Biden if elected in 2024.
In a post to Truth Social, written in all capital letters, Trump wrote that he would appoint a "real special 'prosecutor'" to go after "the most corrupt president in the history of the USA."Trump wrote, "NOW THAT THE 'SEAL' IS BROKEN, IN ADDITION TO CLOSING THE BORDER & REMOVING ALL OF THE 'CRIMINAL' ELEMENTS THAT HAVE ILLEGALLY INVADED OUR COUNTRY, MAKING AMERICA ENERGY INDEPENDENT, & EVEN DOMINANT AGAIN, & IMMEDIATELY ENDING THE WAR BETWEEN RUSSIA & UKRAINE, I WILL APPOINT A REAL SPECIAL 'PROSECUTOR' TO GO AFTER THE MOST CORRUPT PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE USA, JOE BIDEN, THE ENTIRE BIDEN CRIME FAMILY, & ALL OTHERS INVOLVED WITH THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR ELECTIONS, BORDERS, & COUNTRY ITSELF!"
In a subsequent post, Trump added, "ELECTION INTERFERENCE at a level never seen before in our Country!"
The Department of Justice has indicted Trump on 37 felony charges related to handling classified documents. He is scheduled to turn himself in tomorrow afternoon in Miami.
Trump is currently the Republican frontrunner for the 2024 nomination — and his lead has only grown stronger since the indictment was announced. A person is not prohibited from being elected if convicted, even in prison.
In an interview with Politico on Sunday, Trump said he would not drop out of the race — even if he is convicted.
“I’ll never leave,” Trump said. “Look, if I would have left, I would have left prior to the original race in 2016. That was a rough one. In theory that was not doable.”
Trump said that he is not happy about the indictment, even if it means his poll numbers have went up.
“Nobody wants to be indicted,” said Trump. “I don’t care that my poll numbers went up by a lot. I don’t want to be indicted. I’ve never been indicted. I went through my whole life, now I get indicted every two months. It’s been political.”
This is the second time Trump has been indicted this year, but the first time being charged federally. In April, the Manhattan district attorney charged Trump with falsifying business records, alleging that he hid hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels.
