BREAKING: Donald Trump's Twitter Account Has Been Reinstated

Former President Donald Trump's Twitter account has been reinstated.

The account was reinstated after the platform's owner, Elon Musk, conducted a poll asking users if he should be allowed back on.

Over 15 million people voted in the poll, with 51.8 percent in favor of reinstating the former president's account.

"The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated," Musk tweeted. "Vox Populi, Vox Dei," which translates to "the voice of the people is the voice of God."

Hours before he was reinstated, Trump posted on his platform, Truth Social, telling people to go vote in the poll.

"Vote now with positivity, but don’t worry, we aren’t going anywhere. Truth Social is special!" Trump wrote.

Though Musk has reinstated some high-profile accounts, he has also shut down the discussion surrounding others.

Musk responded to a user asking about Alex Jones being reinstated, saying, "no."

Jones is widely considered to be a true test of free speech, as he was one of the first major figures to be banned from big social media platforms. When someone pointed this out, Musk replied saying "too bad."

Trump has previously said that he has no plans to return to Twitter after launching his own platform, Truth Social.

Trump said during an interview with Fox News Digital in October, "I like Elon and I wish him a lot of luck. I hope he does well with it."

Trump added, "I don’t think Twitter can be successful without me."

"I am staying on Truth. I like it better, I like the way it works, I like Elon, but I’m staying on Truth," the former president and 2024 candidate continued.

Trump was permanently banned from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat following the protest at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

Twitter claimed at the time that they did so to lessen "the risk of further incitement of violence."

"I made Twitter hot 12 years ago, I made Twitter hot," Trump said during the interview with Fox News. "And then when they terminated, it became cold, and that’s what happened."

Trump had not responded to his account being reinstated or tweeted as of the time of publishing.
