Biden Loses Nearly 14% Of 'Uncommitted' Voters In Michigan

President Joe Biden lost nearly 14% of "uncommitted" voters in Tuesday's Michigan primary.

Biden won the Michigan primary with just over 80% of votes cast in Michigan. However, Biden lost support from nearly 14% of "Uncommitted" voters, along with just under 6% to Democratic challengers Marianne Williamson and Dean Phillips, totaling just under 20% of support lost.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer predicted a significant amount of uncommitted Democratic voters in the state prior to Tuesday's primary, citing the president's support for Israel amidst its military response in Gaza.

“Today, I anticipate that we will see a sizable number of people vote uncommitted,” Whitmer said during a Tuesday appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe. “As we know, our huge Arab, Palestinian, and Muslim communities are going to voice some of their opinions with regard to how we’re handling what’s happening over in Gaza and Israel.”

“We also have a robust Jewish community here, and these are two very important communities that have lived in harmony in this state for decades,” Whitmer added. “And there’s a lot of people who are hurting.”

Whitmer also warned the looming threat of a second Trump term could bring a national abortion ban, along with other reproduction legislation.

"That means IVF, that means embryonic stem cell research, as well as, obviously, the fundamental right to make our own choices about our bodies and our healthcare," she warned.

Earlier this month, Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who is Muslim, encouraged Michiganders to "vote uncommitted" in protest of Biden's support for Israel.

“We don’t want a country that supports wars and bombs and destruction. We want to support life. We want to stand up for every single life killed in Gaza,” Tlaib said. “This is the way you can raise our voices, to make us even more visible."

“Right now, we feel completely neglected and just unseen by our government. If you want us to be louder, then come here and vote uncommitted," she added.

Former President Donald Trump defeated lone Republican challenger Nikki Haley in the Republican Michigan primary by over 40 points.

"I just want to thank everybody. … The numbers are far greater than we even anticipated," Trump told the Michigan GOP Watch Party shortly after the race was called, adding he would be doing a "lot more campaigning" over the next couple of months.

"I can tell you this November cannot come fast enough," Trump continued. "We have the worst president in history—the most incompetent and the most corrupt president, and we can't let this continue."

Trump has handily defeated Republican challengers in every state primary election this season by double-digit margins.
