Biden Campaign Releases New Health Care Ad in Spanglish (VIDEO)

The Biden campaign has released a new ad promoting the president's health care policies — delivered entirely in Spanglish.

Spanglish is when people speak in both Spanish and English interchangeably and conversationally.

The ad accuses former President Donald Trump of being more concerned about corporate interests, while President Joe Biden seeks to lower health care costs.

It begins with the proverb, “dime con quién andas y te dire quién eres,” which roughly translates to “You are who you hang out with.”

Throughout the ad, the narration switches back and forth between English and Spanish. This is the second Spanglish ad the Biden campaign has released this election cycle.

During the 2020 election, Biden's team released at least one ad in Spanglish and several others in Spanish.

"The Biden campaign has spent millions on ads and on deploying staff to reach Latino voters for this campaign, according to spokesperson Fabiola Rodriguez," Axios reports. "The Democratic National Committee also says it's made a 'six-figure' investment in digital, print and radio ads targeting Latinos while paying for more than 30 Spanish-language billboards in key battleground states."

The Hill reports, "According to an UnidosUS poll of Latino voters, health care is the third-most-important issue for that group, cited by 33 percent of respondents as a top issue, only below jobs and inflation. It’s also an issue that voters largely believe is better handled by Democrats than by Republicans."

Trump's campaign released ads in Spanish in 2020 but has not done so this year.

“For Latino communities already facing health care disparities, this election isn’t just about politics — it’s about survival. Latinos deserve a president who is fighting to make health care better and more affordable — and that’s exactly what President Biden has focused on in his first term,” Biden-Harris 2024 campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez told The Hill.

“All of that is on the line if Trump ever sets foot in the White House again. His campaign for revenge and retribution means millions of Latinos and working families would lose their health insurance, while health care costs and the cost of prescription drugs would shoot through the roof in order to benefit his Big Pharma donors.”
