Amazon leadership held a session to discuss the implications of Daily Wire political commentator and author Matt Walsh's new children's book, Johnny the Walrus.
The book takes aim at leftist gender ideology targeting towards children with a story about a little boy who pretends to be a walrus.
Prior to being pulled from the section, the children's book was ranked number 1 on Amazon's list of "Best Sellers in LGBTQ+ Books." Amazon has removed my bestselling LGBT children’s book from their LGBT book list. This is an unconscionable attack on gay rights and a horrific example of homophobia and gay erasure. pic.twitter.com/AZeyqp66Ps

"This is an unconscionable attack on gay rights and a horrific example of homophobia and gay erasure," Walsh tweeted, mocking the entire ordeal.
The book was also removed entirely from Target's website. I am beginning to feel deeply marginalized and unsafe as an LGBT author and thought leader

"The canceling begins. Target has removed Johnny the Walrus from their website. No explanation has been given," Walsh tweeted back in December, when the book was still being offered for pre-sale.
A new clip of a meeting allegedly held by leadership at Amazon, obtained by Libs of Tik Tok, shows just how concerned the company was about the success of the book. Amazon leadership held a session for employees dealing with the “trauma” of Matt Walsh’s book becoming a best seller and dealing with his trolling. They strategize on how to demote it on their site and claim he will get people killed. @MattWalshBlog broke them. pic.twitter.com/AKH8ihO0iV

"Amazon leadership held a session for employees dealing with the 'trauma' of Matt Walsh’s book becoming a best seller and dealing with his trolling. They strategize on how to demote it on their site and claim he will get people killed. @MattWalshBlog broke them," the popular Twitter account tweeted, along with the footage.
The video begins with the host explaining that the children's book has been a "very traumatic experience for transgender Amazonians and our transgender customers."
The host asked people to refrain from complaining about the book, as the appropriate departments are already aware of the issue.
"Johnny the Walrus is a bit of a problematic book — not a bit — it is not a bit of a problem, it's one hell of a problem," he says, before playing a call from a customer. My children's book is traumatizing Amazon employees. There is only one thing to do now. We must get it all the way to number one. https://t.co/btjPjfIJJ4 https://t.co/kZslSdI0lg

During the call, which the host said did a good job summing up the problem, the customer claimed that the book was teaching children to "kill transgenders" or "bully them into committing suicide."
The book does not advocate for either bullying or murder.
Amazon employees are upset that a MAN is answering the question “what is a woman?” How do they even know if Matt is a man? Maybe he’s a woman? What is a woman? They provide no answer or clues to getting to the bottom of this.
"Johnny is a little boy with a big imagination. One day he pretends to be a big scary dinosaur, the next day he’s a knight in shining armor or a playful puppy. But when the internet people find out Johnny likes to make-believe, he’s forced to make a decision between the little boy he is and the things he pretends to be — and he’s not allowed to change his mind," the book's description on Amazon reads.
