Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi tested positive for COVID-19 Thursday and is not currently experiencing any symptoms.
The top Democrat’s office confirmed the diagnosis after other Biden administration officials including Attorney General Merrick Garland contracted the virus.
"After testing negative this week, Speaker Pelosi received a positive test result for COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic," spokesman Drew Hammill said on Twitter. "The Speaker is fully vaccinated and boosted, and is thankful for the robust protection the vaccine has provided.”
"The Speaker will quarantine consistent with CDC guidance, and encourages everyone to get vaccinated, boosted and test regularly,” he added.
Earlier this week, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and Reps. Adam Schiff and Joaquin Castro also tested positive for the contagion.
Pelosi attended a crowded event at the White House Wednesday alongside President Biden, Chuck Schumer, and other prominent politicians.
This is a developing story.
