A new report claims the Republican National Committee will not hire activist Scott Presler despite enthusiasm among conservative influencers.
NBC News published an exclusive report on March 19 quoting an unnamed spokesperson for the political party contradicting reports that Presler was on the brink of being hired with the support of the party’s new co-chair Lara Trump.
The RNC spokesperson said Presler is a “valuable voice to the RNC” but “remains focused on his nonprofit” and will not be an employee of the organization.
Presler runs Early Vote Action, which was formed to lead early voting efforts among Republicans to ensure victories for the party.
“At EVA, we’re intent on marshaling the time, labor, and resources of conservatives around the country to achieve this goal in 2024, with a specific focus on the key swing states of Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin,” the organization states. “The foremost goal for Republicans in 2024 is to take back the White House, and the path to 270 Electoral College votes runs through these five key swing states.”
Presler has been a part of Republican activist efforts for the better part of a decade. In 2016, he was an organizer for the Republican Party of Virginia. He has credited President Donald Trump’s 2019 criticism of “rodent-infested” Baltimore as part of his interest in political activism.
“President Trump inspired me to start cleaning up America,” Presler told Fox News in 2020. “I saw how everyone on Twitter was kind of pointing the finger, they were blaming and scapegoating, and everybody was talking about the problem but nobody was coming up with a solution.”
Presler has also served as the chairman of Gays for Trump.
Some major publications are critical of Presler. MSNBC and Rolling Stone both labeled him an “election denier” while Media Matters described him as a “QAnon conspiracy theorist.”
Lara Trump, the daughter in-law of the former president, expressed her interest in hiring Presler shortly after she was elected to the RNC’s leadership on March 8.
“We also have to start thinking about things like legal ballot harvesting, something we’ve never embraced as a party,” Mrs. Trump told political commentator Benny Johnson. “We’re going to start doing it now. I’m going to have a call very soon with Scott Presler, who is an amazing vote registerer. He has registered so many people in this country.”
“I think he’s fantastic. I want him on our legal ballot harvesting division,” she added.
Presler expressed his enthusiasm for Mrs. Trump’s remarks on X.
“Let’s come together as a family & save the country we love,” he wrote in a March 15 post. “Right now, we’re a scheduling voter registration drives at gun shows, places of worship, rodeos, farmers markets, & other venues across the USA. Let show love by taking positive action.”
